Information Technology Technician
Summary
The IT Technician role involves supporting the IT Manager and other technicians, with responsibilities including installing, configuring, and supporting the company’s network infrastructure, servers, computers, telephone system, surveillance system, system integrations, and cloud-based services.
Essential Functions
- Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements.
- Train employees in computer and software usage.
- Confer with users about how to solve existing problems.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records.
- Runs errands for parts and equipment for the IT department.
- Performs preventive maintenance on computers and associated equipment.
- Work within all departments on any technology-related problems.
- Work with other departments to implement and support integration solutions.
- Conform with PPE requirements and Safety Rules.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Information Technology Technician must be open to learning, capable of working with minimal supervision, results-driven, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This individual must be proficient in:
- Desktop, laptop, notebook, pocket PC’s and cellular phones.
- Microsoft Windows workstation and server operating systems
- Microsoft Office 365
- Office equipment including copiers, faxes, and printers (laser, inkjet and thermal)
- Troubleshooting - Recognize, analyze, provide solutions for software and hardware systems.
- Technical Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate
- Post-secondary technical education, technical schooling, or equivalent work experience
Work Environment & Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
PPE requirements and Safety Rules
- Eye protection is required everywhere in the plant
- Hearing protection is required when crossing the blue lines that are painted on the floor, heading towards the machines
- Safety toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the
- Maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid from another person, fork lift, big joe, or roll handlers.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and general hours of work is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work. Also requires “on-call” status.
